David R. Cross, Ph.D.
Our research revolves primarily around the work of TCU's Institute of
Child Development, whose mission can be stated as
"research, training, and service dedicated to the needs of
families with at-risk children." Currently, we are working on
the following projects:
- Our group is working to refine, document, and evaluate our
model of intervention with children who have experienced
relationship-based trauma (i.e., abandonment, abuse, neglect,
institutionalization). This unique model, which is called
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), is
multi-faceted in its conceptualization and multi-disciplinary
in its approach. We have collected substantial information
regarding the efficacy of TBRI, and are actively engaged in
various projects to extend its scope and empirical foundation.
- Our group is also working hard to develop high-quality
training materials, including books, manuals, and videos. We
are proud to have assembled a first-class team of
psychologists with varied backgrounds in developmental
psychology, cognitive psychology, and clinical psychology.
This team is complemented by a team of professionals with
expertise in print, web design, and video production. An
important goal of our project is to not only develop
high-quality content, but develop and evaluate innovative
training methodologies.
